The ORM (Oak Hill Collaborative Robotics Makerspace) is a group of makers comprised of software and robotics engineers, sensor designers, web developers, project managers, technology educators, and students. These volunteers are excited and committed to exploring new ideas on how technology can be used to benefit our community. Robots are a technology that has been around for many many years. But most of what we believe about robots is that they will "take our jobs". But how can robots benefit the average person and our community? The ORM is committed to educating our community on just that! ORM, through several projects, are exploring how robots can be used to improve our community with such projects as water monitoring/analysis of watersheds in Northeast Ohio. ORM is dedicated to use robot technology responsibly that will cause no harm to people, animals, or the environment.

OUR VISION

  1. To provides a publicly accessible robotics makerspace for Northeast Ohio that will encourage and support efforts to increase public awareness, understanding, and implications of new and upcoming trends and innovations in robotics-based technologies that have the potential to impact the daily lives of all citizens,

  1. To provide a public space where individuals  can come  together to learn how to build, program, and collaborate on low-cost, open-source robots and robotics-based projects that will benefit the community,

  1. To act as an external space and resource for robotics educational programs & projects at the State Universities, and technical schools and groups in Northeast Ohio.

Introduction to the ORM

Video discusses the purpose of ORM and its efforts to work with local water analysis organization to use robotics to help perform water monitoring.

Robot Arm Programming

Cameron Hughes discusses programming the Phantom Pincher X robot arm that will be used in the CSI/Clue Robot Challenge.

V-REP Demonstration

Jeff Rimko demonstrates the V-REP robot simulator. It is a 3D robot simulation tool that runs under Linux and MAC environments.
